Vinicius Junior provided the defining image of the weekend.

The Brazilian scored to make it 2-0, but during the move he pulled Nathan Dylan-Saliba's hair, so not only was his goal disallowed, he was also sent off.

This is what Día de Mera wrote in his match report: “In the 73rd minute of the match, with play stopped, the home team's number 7, Mr Vinicius José De Oliveira Do Nascimento, having been sent off and while still on the pitch, continued to protest my decision at the top of his voice, approaching the area where I was standing in an aggressive manner”.

Now it remains to be seen whether he receives a ban of more than one match. He will miss the Sevilla game, but could also miss the match against Barcelona on 25 October. If he is handed a ban of two or more matches, he will definitely be ruled out.

It had not been the dream start to the season for Yan Diomandé, but the Ivorian rescued Real Madrid with a crucial goal.

His strike keeps Los Blancos in the La Liga title race, chasing Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, who also got the job done.
