Jeremy Jacquet has made an impressive early impression at Liverpool, earning the club’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month award for August and September after a series of assured performances at the heart of the defence.

The 21 year old, who arrived from Rennes in a reported £60 million deal, has quickly established himself as an important figure in Liverpool’s back line. Supporters recognised his contribution by voting him ahead of Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak, who finished second and third respectively.

For a young defender adapting to the demands of English football, the recognition represents a significant milestone in his Anfield career.

Jacquet featured in all seven of Liverpool’s matches across August and September, starting six of them. His debut came in the 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Liverpool had agreed the transfer earlier in the year, with Jacquet signing a five year contract following his move from Rennes. The fee, reportedly £60 million, carried considerable expectations, particularly given the scrutiny surrounding Liverpool’s defensive performances.

Jacquet has responded with composure and consistency. He played every minute of September as Liverpool recorded three consecutive Premier League clean sheets against Ipswich Town, Fulham and Bournemouth.

His contribution was particularly evident during the 1-0 victory at Bournemouth, where supporters voted him Player of the Match. Such recognition reflected his growing influence and the confidence he has brought to Liverpool’s defensive unit.

The statistics underline why Liverpool supporters have taken to the Frenchman so quickly.
