The Spain women's national team, led by Sonia Bermúdez, beat the United States 2-0 in a blockbuster clash between the world champions and the Olympic champions.

Spain quickly took control of the match. Just two minutes in, Patri Guijarro opened the scoring with a powerful right-footed strike after a fine exchange with Alexia Putellas. Before the 15-minute mark, Eva Navarro volleyed home a cross from Salma Paralluelo to seal what proved to be a decisive 2-0 lead.

Despite the United States' response in the second half, goalkeeper Adriana Nanclares emerged as the star of the show, saving a penalty from Lily Yohannes in the 67th minute. The two powerhouses will face each other again this Tuesday in Pennsylvania.
