Kostas Tsimikas marked a major personal milestone after leading Liverpool as captain in the 6-3 Champions League victory over LASK, turning a routine group-stage outing into a memorable night for the Greece international.

With Virgil van Dijk starting on the bench and only introduced midway through the second half, Tsimikas was handed the armband from the outset in what was his first time captaining Liverpool in a competitive fixture. For a player who has often had to wait patiently for opportunities, it represented a significant moment in his Anfield journey.

The left-back did more than simply lead the side out. He also made a tangible impact on the pitch, registering two assists across the contest as Liverpool powered to a 6-3 win. His deliveries helped create goals for Ronald Araujo and Jeremie Frimpong, underlining a performance that combined leadership with attacking quality.

Tsimikas has built a reputation as a dependable squad option, valued for his energy, delivery and professionalism. On this occasion, he stepped into a more prominent role and handled it impressively, offering composure and intent from the left flank throughout the evening.

The result itself ensured the occasion carried even greater significance. A high-scoring European away win is always valuable, and for Tsimikas it brought the perfect setting for a deeply personal achievement. Wearing the armband for Liverpool in the Champions League is the sort of landmark many players imagine as children, and he later made clear exactly how much it meant to him.

On social media, Tsimikas wrote: “Representing my dream club, on a Champions League night, as a captain, with a win and some assists serving?!” He added: “Little Kostas, we made it happen, kid. Never stop dreaming and believing, guys.” Tsimikas concluded: “Dreams can come true. I made some of mine come true today and it feels great. I am so grateful.”

For Liverpool, it was another productive European night. For Tsimikas, it was a career memory that will endure, one shaped by responsibility, contribution and genuine emotion.
