Barcelona beat Galatasaray 4-1 at RAMS Park on Tuesday, 13 October, to make it 10 wins from 10 at the start of the season and maintain a perfect Champions League record. The match reports from Barca Blaugranes and FC Barcelona describe a turnaround sparked by Lamine Yamal after the hosts took an early lead.

The Blaugrana controlled much of the opening period and created chances, but Galatasaray went ahead in the 28th minute. Rafael Leão carried the ball forward and crossed low for Aleksey Batrakov, whose shot took a deflection off João Cancelo before beating Joan García.

Galatasaray briefly appeared to double their lead when a Victor Osimhen header, deflected into the net by Barış Alper Yılmaz, was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, according to the primary match account. Barcelona levelled in the 43rd minute, with Dani Olmo winning the ball and Cancelo finishing to bring the teams level before the break.

Yamal, who had been quieter in the first half, supplied the cross for Fermín López to head Barcelona in front in the 50th minute. Three minutes later he created the next opening, beating his marker before Anthony Gordon made it 3-1; substitute Karim Adeyemi completed the scoring in the 65th minute at the end of a counter-attack.

The winger’s influence in the decisive spell made the result a vivid example of how Barcelona’s plans for Yamal on the right flank can shape their attacking play. Hansi Flick was then able to make changes as his side saw out the closing stages.

The result gave Barcelona six points from six in the Champions League League Phase, following their opening win over Feyenoord. The club’s official match report also noted that the side recovered from a difficult spell after conceding, equalised before half-time and then scored three times in the second half.

That response extends a winning run under Flick that has included emphatic results in domestic competition, including a 7-2 Barcelona victory over Racing . In Istanbul, however, the immediate evidence was on the pitch: Barcelona conceded first, steadied themselves and turned the game decisively after the interval.

Barcelona’s next league-phase fixture is away to Paris Saint-Germain, while Galatasaray are scheduled to travel to Lille. The Istanbul result leaves Flick’s side with six points from their first two European matches and their unbeaten start intact.
