The DFB team’s 1-0 defeat to Greece in Jürgen Klopp’s second match led many to question the side’s quality. The general tone across football Germany was that the loss had been embarrassing.

However, Greece are also showing today in the parallel match against the Netherlands that they may simply be flying under the radar in general. Because the Hellenes are also springing a surprise against Oranje. Ivan Jovanovic’s team go into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Fotis Ioannidis and Georgios Masouras scored the goals against the supposed favorites.

Seen in this light, the German national team’s defeat to Greece last weekend no longer seems quite so embarrassing. Perhaps the current Greek team are simply very streetwise and in form. Credit where credit is due.
